It’s been a fantastic year of momentum for Young Ocean Explorers. We’ve just completed our ‘Clean Communities – Clean Oceans’ school tour. Over 9 weeks we gave presentations to 68 schools, 12 teacher professional development sessions, reaching over 38,000 students and teachers. (During 2018 we’ve given presentations to over 59,000)

Here is an end of year summary from Young Ocean Explorers:

"It’s been a fantastic year of momentum for Young Ocean Explorers.

Our educational website www.youngoceanexplorers.com has been used in lots of NZ schools, with over 600,000 views of content (which only counts individual devices watching the content and not the thousands of times when there are 30-60 sets of eyes watching one screen in classrooms!)
In the 13 months since launching the site, we have nearly 1900 teachers signed up to the free site. Our aim is to let each of the 26,770 primary and intermediate teachers in NZ know about the site and how they can use it.

Again we collaborated with the Hauraki Gulf Forum to release the ‘Dive into the Gulf’ posters, with about 150,000 posters distributed with the NZ Herald and into schools. We’ve created a free app that brings the poster tolife, when a device is put over the poster.

We genuinely believe that we’re going to change NZ’s story – by bringing the underwater story of NZ into the Kiwi story … some of our country’s best stories have yet to be told!"
